When monsters returned to the surface, they brought a lot of things with them. Most prominent was fear and apprehension; the war had been so long ago that humanity had completely forgotten it ever happened. For while humans were undoubtedly stronger than monsters, more resilient, more determined, we failed to measure up in one particular way – we did not last half as long as they could. Monsters had remained cooped up underground, the scars and memories of wars staying with them as they remained immortal. They remembered all of it.
